Eygi was reportedly killed by gunfire from Israeli security forces while participating in a regular protest against the expansion of Jewish settlements. In response, Israel’s military has acknowledged the incident, stating they are “investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a foreign national due to gunfire in the region.” A witness at the scene recounted to the BBC World Service’s Newshour that the sound of gunfire was distinct, with two shots heard during the protest.
